Its earliest geographical history comes from Normandy, France, where the Langevin family held a family seat as important members of aristocracy in that region. The first on record was Osmund Angevin, a Norman notable from L'angevin in Normandy who joined Duke William in his conquest of England in 1066. In gratitude William granted the family large estates in Lincolnshire, where they held a family seat for several centuries.
